Electrodeposition of mirror surface β-W films in molten CsF–CsCl–WO3

In this study we report, for the first time, a thick β-W film with mirror-like surface prepared through electrodeposition involving CsF–CsCl eutectic melt combined 2.0 mol% of WO3 at 773 K. A smooth-surfaced thickness 13 µm was obtained when galvanostatic electrolysis performed − 4 mA cm−2. X-ray diffraction analysis revealed that films have strong preferred orientation along {1 1 1} plane, which becomes stronger decreasing current density. Surface and cross-sectional morphologies observed scanning electron microscopy indicated increasing density caused growth electrodeposit to change from field-oriented texture type unoriented dispersion type, in accordance Fischer’s classification electrodeposition. To best our knowledge, is time metal been electrodeposited high temperature molten salt, not only tungsten but any metal.
